10 October 2018- The ESR noted the occurrence of a by-election in Chimanimani Ward 13 on the 6th October 2018. The seat was made vacant after one of the candidates passed away before the 30th July 2018 harmonized elections.
The Ward has 5011 registered voters but just over 1000 voters participated in the by-election. The election was won by ZANU PF candidate Ronnie Chimbarare who pulled 467 votes. Independent candidate Muchuura Amni had 347 votes. Anthony Chikosha of the Peoples Rainbow Coalition had 30 votes. Tapfumaneyi Mashandu of the NCA had 37 votes. MDC Alliance Chiambiro Mukombapi had 92 votes. Voter apathy marred this election which is the past had 4000 voters casting their votes. This is a direct contrast to the harmonised election which saw over 80 per cent participation.
